We had a 10 am reservation to eat, however when we got there it was not too crowded yet. Our waitress was very friendly. We all ordered our coffees. The coffee comes from CREMA who makes outstanding coffee…Like, I wish I had some right now whilst writing this post. Sad to say that is about where the tastiness ends for me. My espresso was absolutely delightful. I even enjoyed the unique "palate cleanser" with the espresso because it did exactly that! Everyone else enjoyed their cafe's that they had ordered as well.
We went on to order the oysters as an appetizers along with our breakfast foods. I applaud their efforts to try and take their own unique spin on oysters however sometimes you just should mess with a good thing. The sauce that is in the little cup taste like an apple cider vinegar mixture. You are supposed to drizzle that over the oysters. Not only were the oysters very small but with that mixture on top of it I just felt like it didn't do anything for the flavor. For once in my life I did not want to finish my oysters. I did love the presentation though!
For breakfast I ordered their cross between eggs benedict and egg in a basket. Presentation was beautiful. It was smaller then I expected, which I sort of liked. I think here in the US we make our portions way too big anyways and we are raised with a clean your plate mentality = contributing to obesity. #justsaying Anyways I digress, The others got omelets and a pot roast hash. Those were fairly good sizes (larger then my portions) and they were well enjoyed. My boyfriend ordered additional bacon and pork belly as sides. The bacon was good and as he is usually a big fan of pork belly, he was disappointed in theirs. Their was no seasoning or glaze or really that much flavor at all. Was just straight pork belly. So if you are the kind of person who gets annoyed when people put those things on it you will enjoy this straight up pork belly side!
All that aside it also took them almost an hour to bring us the main course. Even the coffee took about 15+ minutes or so. Again I am all for a casual breakfast because just like how they do it in Europe it is not rushed…but an hour to get the main course I felt was just a little bit too long.
I hope to try dinner and cocktails there sometime. I know that any restaurant can have an off day and I am not one to never try a place again just because of one mediocre experience. And if all else fails at least I know I can enjoy a delicious espresso there!
